Glue and Popsicle sticks
Let’s see if we can build a house
Let’s see if we can build a house of child fantasy
A house that wolves cannot blow down
A secret place, no giant knows
Let’s see if we can build a house
Let’s see if we can build a house of Popsicle sticks
A place where today is forever
A place where no one has to die
Let’s see if we can build a house
Let’s see if we can build a house with glue
Maybe we’ll paint it yellow - to keep everybody happy
Maybe God will call it his midnight star
Let’s see if we can build a house
Let’s see if we can make it last forever
Dreams are forgotten - and hideouts too
Dreams don’t have to fade – they just have to grow.

Blessing The Nations
This isn’t a poem, you may have recognized by the name. I’m just simply painting my thoughts for you. You may wonder my reasons for the title of this post “School is an opportunity more than you know”. Well, do not be dismayed - I shall enlighten you.
Of course, higher education is the reason of opportunity for the motivated - including me. But many find other opportunities while in school, as well. For example, many of my fellow classmen and women often find themselves in intricate and unappealing discussions about sex, drugs, alcohol and gossip - These are the bad opportunities openly talked about around the cafeteria and classroom. It always seems that (with public schools, at least) negative always shadows over anything positive - dimming success. Rarely do people on the outside looking in, ever see the color within the sea of grey. No one seems to notice that many of the teachers follow Christ; no one seems to notice the small group of Christians praying before school starts; no one seems to realize the Christian text that fills and headlines the textbooks. Not every teenager finds school as an opportunity to follow in the paths of destruction - some find school an opportunity to stand out in righteousness and be different than those around them….and hopefully, one day - those little lights in a world of darkness - will see the autumn harvest.
In hope, Katelyn
